With over 15 years of experience in the Latin language, combined with a deep understanding of executive function coaching for the past 6 years, Tess is dedicated to helping introductory Latin students develop and hone essential skills such as working memory, sustained attention, time management, planning, prioritization, and self-regulation. As the founder of Latin Foundations & Focus, Tess believes that each student has the potential to flourish when given the right tools, support, and understanding.
A passionate educator and coach, Tess has cultivated a unique approach that blends the ancient wisdom and discipline of Latin studies with modern techniques in executive function coaching. Tess recognizes the importance of compassionate coaching—creating a safe and supportive environment where students feel empowered to explore and strengthen their cognitive skills. This holistic approach emphasizes curiosity, self-awareness, and self-compassion as key components of successful growth and learning.
Tess’s expertise lies in helping students build the foundational skills that lead to greater academic success and personal growth. Through individualized coaching, Tess helps students tackle challenges with patience and confidence, guiding them in developing the executive function skills necessary for navigating middle school, high school, and beyond.
Tess is an alumna of Great Hearts Academies and graduated as valedictorian of Veritas Preparatory Academy in 2010. She graduated magna cum laude from Kenyon College with Distinctions in Classics in 2014.
Tess has worked with both neurotypical and neurodivergent populations in her private tutoring for over a decade. Additionally, she has worked in the general classroom as a Latin and English teacher, the exceptional student services room as a 504 Coordinator and individualized instructor, and small group setting coaching life skills for Autistic teens. She became an executive function coach in 2019 and completed the Certified ADHD Professional Intensive Training Course: Evidence-Based Strategies for Managing ADHD Across the Lifespan in 2021.
